Greetings from Downunder
Greetings from Australia.
I'm Chris, owner of Globe Roamer https://www.instagram.com/globe__roamer/ and The Portal Hub https://www.instagram.com/theportalhub. We have a passion for Mercedes-Benz, to date, we've primarily played with Unimog, G Wagen and MB Trac, but that is about to change. We have just purchased an O319 Panorama and L319 Panel Van, both RHD and in Australia.
I am yet to take delivery of them, but I've been lusting after a 319 for many years having missed out on several over the last 5 years, my resolve to acquire these two was second to none.
There's a long road ahead, sadly the panorama has had an engine swap, but the panel van is complete and original, if perhaps 100kgs lighter due to rust.
Sit back and enjoy the photos.
If you're familiar with these vehicles, please reach out.
I look forward to sharing my restoration journey with you.
Chris

PS, if there's anyone in Australia with one of these, please send me a PM, I'd love to have a chat.

Re: Greetings from Downunder
Hi Chris,
congratulations on your purchase, although there is a long road ahead, as you already mentioned.
And the engine swap on the Panorama bus probably isn't the biggest problem.
I had a look at your instagram links. So you shoud end up installing an Unimog or G-Model drivetrain under the 319 body.
Good luck with the restoration, please keep us updated with pictures.

Hi Chris
I spoke to a guy in Oz 3 years back about potentially purchasing some rhd parts but it never happened.
It may have been connected with this van ?
Regardless, I'm pleased to see you have future plans for these, best wishes from UK.

Re: Greetings from Downunder
Christmas came early for me.
We got the two 319s delivered on December 18th.
Attached are a few photos of the extraction process and delivery.
We took our Unimog, because? well, why not?
Chris
PS, I now have my favourite place to take my coffee.
@Robjota, Yes, I suspect it was these vans. I tried to buy them back then, but the owner got swamped with enquiries and withdrew them from sale very quickly.
@kauly, glad you spotted them.
@ Zehbeh, I have seriously thought about a sprinter 4x4 chassis swap, at least for the L319, the O319 is maybe a little too rare to butcher. I think that bus will get a later model Benz engine, perhaps an OM606 or OM364LA, and keep the rest of the drivetrain factory.

Re: Greetings from Downunder
Moved the 319s in the yard the other day.
The Panorama was pretty easy as it has all four wheels.
The Van was a little more tricky as it is missing the front left hub and is stuck in gear. Thankfully the clutch still works.
Enjoy a few pictures below.

That'll keep you busy Chris, they both need some love and attention, loving that gate bolt affixed to the O319 door, brutal.

Re: Greetings from Downunder
It’s the little things today. Just put the front grills back on so that they at least look “complete”.
They’ll sit for a couple of months now until we get our current Unimog project finished.

Re: Greetings from Downunder
Hahahahaha
Famous last words...
Last week I was road tripping from my home in Brisbane to Canberra (1,187kms).
I was checking Facebook Marketplace along the way. Spotto!!!! An L319 Cab/Chassis/Pick up or "Ute" as we call them in Australia.
It was only 5 minutes off the highway. So I stopped, had a look (but in my mind, I already knew I was going to buy it). Did a deal and purchased it.
Will be picking it up in the next couple of days.
Needless to say, I'm pretty excited.

Re: Greetings from Downunder
I recently took the 319 Panorama to our local Mercedes-Benz Club Concours. My Mercedes Sewing Machine was also on display.
It was a great day, plus the G Wagen towed the trailer very nicely.
