[restoration] L319D - 1958
Re: [restoration] L319D - 1958
reassembly continues quietly. the front swinging windows and the rear windows are in place ! the rear lights work. I still have to wire the wiper motor and the "flashing - horn contactor" in the center of the steering wheel to finish with the electricity!

Re: [restoration] L319D - 1958
and it continues !!!!! many details that take time and I have not necessarily taken everything in picture
I finally finished the whole elec !!! and everything works!
fitting the front bumper (by the way, I no longer find the rear bumper supports since I moved from the hangar ...
)

cleaning, and clean with belgom of all the aluminum rods .... it is the longest to do with rods of 3m20 long:

installation of the last front and rear window, front door seals, etc ... I managed to recover the seals with silicone WD40, it works well! it starts to look great!

now I need to find the outer seal and screw caps that are on the rods. it looks very much like those of old caravans ....

Seeing that I was not far away, I went a little to the garage at midday because I was working in the neighborhood

but ..... big problem .... i lost the parts to lock the rear door ......

no idea where it may be .... i flipped the hangar and couldn't get my hands on it ...

Re: [restoration] L319D - 1958
I fell there on the bottom of the servant under the ratchet key box

Überraschung

the parts I was missing for the rear doors
disassembly of a part of the mechanics in order to work quietly to stall the pump when I recover it.
I sent the injection pump for a complete overhaul and the injectors to be redone because badly tared the first time. the bill may sting ...

it's hard to work on my cars because my garage is 40km away from my house, and in france we still don't have the right to get out except for work or buying food .... so when i work near my garage i take my lunch break there

Heh Jim. That bill might sting but it'll be good to get it running right. Help with the fuel economy and power too!

Hey Jim, i live in France too (Grand Est)
hopefully we can get back out again after next Monday...
Good work on the 319, Looks beautiful!
Re: [restoration] L319D - 1958
i received the injection pump from the garage. she's totally new now.

i install it with 32° before injection time, but he's still smoking a lot :'(
i saw on internet that many OM636 a timed on 30°, so i test it but still smoking .....
i saw on another om636 manual that it's 26° ........... so i tested, and failed again ....
next step is taking compression to see if there's a problem on this side and fix it ... can wait to drive my 319

Re: [restoration] L319D - 1958
good and well, we will put the engine out again, open it and resume quietly, there is something that must have screwed up it's not possible ... first drive on the roads, no power, monster smoke, 50 meters further, engine stops, forced to pump the gasole with the maunal pump. in short, nothing goes right
i knew i should have taken a benzin engine

Re: [restoration] L319D - 1958
let's do the work again ! compression are too bad, a friend told me that i must be 19-20bars minimum so i put the motor out and will change pistons' rings and motor seals.

rust in the cylinder
i don't have put correctly the pistons' rings the first time.

i've made a cool picture of my garage

when the 319 will be finished, i'll attack the w110

Re: [restoration] L319D - 1958
le garage est superbe!
Re: [restoration] L319D - 1958
i got all the seal to rebuild again the motor

but one of the pistons rings is not the good one and broke when we mount it, not the good form
i command new today ..... have to wait, i can't do anything to rebuilt the motor without mounting the pistons ..... i'm starting to hate this OM636
instead of that, i started to dismantle the w110 and they are LOooooooooooooOOOOooooots of work
bad repair by the past and the rust destroyed everything ....

and the same day , an old man of where i've my garage come in , (i'm not a professionnal , it's just a hangar i bought to put everybody in and work on during my free time
) , he said to me he have an old mercedes he would like to sell to me , so now i wait the TüV OK and then buy it as a new daily !
it's a mercedes w123 200T from 1983
