Hello Brad
I plan on restoring the bus to its original look. It was originally DB335 medium blue. It also needs original side marker lights, tail lights and rear signal lights. It will need body work as well. I will post pictures when I get around to it.
I will focus on mechanical issues first and make sure the brakes are working better.

Have you the single or double curcuit master cylinder?
An upgraded T50 - 12 brake booster would be nice.

Hi seems you have a special tuning possibility, fixing the brakes might give your 319 more speed

Hello!
Brand-I will get pictures today for you. I am taking it to register it at the DMV office.
I think the brakes would be a good upgrade haha! Then I could actually drive safely!
I checked with Mercedes Benz and found out that the boosters are 2200 USD each. WOW!
Has anyone tried the new T50 boosters? Are they a dramatic improvement over the original? Even if the original is functioning well?

Hi Luis,
it's a nice story and great pics about your first trip with a 319
. I love so trips, too. My last trip brought me to genova and I drove home with my tipper VW T2 single cab . It was a great tour.
Sorry, I can't help you by the problem with the brakes, my last 319 hasn't got a T50.

Hi Luis,
what a cool score, your 319.
And thumbs up for restoring it to ist original condition. I read the ad when the van was for sale. The description of the fiberglass on the front Fenders sounded a bit scary. Hope there is some metal left, and not only bondo. Unfortunately this is a typical rust area. The pillars in front of the doors too.
The 319 could be ordered with a T50 break Booster. Mine has one. Each time I drive it, I am impressed about the breaking power. Especially if I change from my VW split Bus to the 319. But I never had the chance to compare it to a good working 319 break sytem without T50.
I wouldn't spend 2200 USD for a new break booster, you should find a used and overhauled one too.

Olli, Thank you very much for the kind words.
Christian, Thank you for the tips on the brake booster. Its good to hear your opinion on the T-50. I will go to my mechanic tomorrow and see what they think the source of the issue is on the brakes. I am guessing I will be rebuilding all the wheel cylinders and replacing all hoses at the minimum. Then we shall see what to do about the booster. I really don't want to spend 2,200 on a 319 part! Thats 2/3's of what I paid for the 319 itself!!
Brad, I forgot to get pictures for you. I will try to remember tomorrow at my mechanics shop.
I got very excited today and on my way to get the brakes inspected I decided to haul a 300TD motor over to my mechanic as well for another one of my 319 projects! see pictures. It fit right in the back of the van.

Great find! I live in BC Canada and going to import one back to Canada from Germany soon since I can't find one in North America. good luck with the restoration!

Thanks! I was very lucky to grab the 319 quickly and take it home. The funny thing is I also missed out on another L319D that was FREE !!!
The gentleman posted it in the star magazine and I looked at the classifieds too late. That would have been a good deal. That one was also on Vancouver Island as well.
Stay in touch and let me know how your importation process goes. I am always looking for more 319 projects. So if you pass on any, please send them my way. I will do the same for you. Sounds like you are looking for a tall roof version?

Yes I'll let you know how the process goes. I'm going to ship it from Bremerhaven to Tacoma, then trailer it back to Canada. The shipping will cost around $5000 USD with all fees. Ya if I can find a version with a tall roof in decent condition, I'll take it, if not I'll extend the roof height once I get it home.
