I am from Sweden and unfortunally i cant understand your language.
I have just bought an MB L406 from 1966 and wonder whats the difference between 319 and 406?

I have also bought a 408 (319).
What I know is that :319 is max weights about 3 tons and 1900 cc engine
and by exsample : 408 is max weight about 4 tons (kg.) and 80 HP (horsepower) but the type off carrosserie is the same 319.
The max weight off my 319 is 4350 kg. and engine is 1988 cc.
I have also bought a 408 (319).

My english isnot much better than my deutch, but hopefully you can understand enything i write
Here is a picture of my car. photo was taken last sunday when i drive it home 250 km after i bought it.
There are same parts missing in the front, MB mark and "grill" around lights. Does anyone knows where to find parts for those cars

Hi Rolf,
there is no grill around the lights, this area is only painted black as the grill. You only need the missing "decorative strips". 2 pieces on the left side and 2 on the right side.
If you are looking for spare parts, you can contact the member hanibal999 who has lots of 319s, or Kainzmaier (see link on top of page).
How to contact them? go on "portal", then on "Mitgliederliste", click on "PN" and you can write to them.

Up to my information the form L40x is kind of a "gentlements agreement" of car manufacturers in the early sixties in order to make the vehicles compareble. 319 is the denotation before that ageement and L40x is the denotation afterwards (tons+horsepower). My 319 has a vehicle identification number starting with 319 too - and is named in the papers as L406 (four tons 55Hp, year of construction 1965).
As far as i know, your missing "MB mark" is still available directly from your local MB-Dealer. Otherwise you can get a used-one at haniball ( Tel. +49 911-9976161) or from Reinhard (as mentioned - see above Banner) if you need translational help - just ask!!! For that missing "decoration-stripe-ends" right and left from your grill - it`s same same (but you`ll not get them from your offical dealer....)

I am very happy and surprised that I get so many answers on my question about 319 - 406.
It seems that my car is the same as yours, tec4two, identification number starting with 319 and is named in the papers as L406, but my is 1966.
From your answers I think there is no difference between 319 and 406, it only depends of what year it is manufactured.
My car has not been used för same years and because of that the brakes do not work well. When I have fixed the brakes I hope to come on the road and it is to be hoped that I´ll meet some of you somewhere
